The Destiny of Israel
Correspondence of André Chouraqui with Jules Isaac, Jacques Maritain, Paul Claudel, Marc Chagall and others, bearing witness to Jewish-Christian dialogue and the destiny of Israel.
Even before the Second World War, André Chouraqui was attentive both to having the world recognize the greatness of Israel and to having the diverse spiritual traditions engage in a movement of rapprochement. Gathered here is part of the correspondence — letters and conversations — exchanged with various French interlocutors, Jewish and Christian alike: Jules Isaac, Jacques Ellul, Jacques Maritain, Paul Claudel, Marc Chagall.
These exchanges bear witness to authentic friendships, founded on a profound respect for the Word of God revealed in the Bible, and a constant concern for the "destiny of Israel."
